Marcell Tessenyi is the CEO and co-founder of Blue Skies Space, a company revolutionizing access to astronomical data through small, privately funded satellites. Established after Tessenyi’s PhD at UCL, the company challenges the traditional model dominated by government agencies like NASA and ESA by providing satellite data directly to global researchers via subscription. Its first satellite, Mauve, is set to launch in 2025 to study stellar activity and its impact on exoplanets, aiming to enhance understanding of habitability beyond Earth. Blue Skies Space has already partnered with universities and institutions in 11 countries and raised over £2M to expand its satellite fleet. This venture demonstrates Tessenyi’s innovative approach to making space science more accessible and inclusive for the scientific community
