Turning Business Diaries Into a Scalable Publishing Venture

In this episode, Dionysis shares his journey from Greece into entrepreneurship and the founding of his own publishing business. Educated in economics and business studies at Athens Business School, Dennis began his career as an internal consultant in a large cotton industry before pursuing an MBA in management and business studies in England. After returning to Greece, he worked as a sales director in a historic printing and graphic arts company, where he identified a gap in the market for high-quality business diaries. Motivated by a long-standing desire to build his own company, he seized this opportunity and founded his business, creating what became known as the Executive Diary under his company, Executive Publication.

The conversation explores Dennis’s early successes and challenges, including securing major banking clients within his first three years and later facing intense competition from Italian producers offering lower prices and higher quality. Rather than retreat, he adapted by moving production to Italy, improving quality and cost competitiveness, and diversifying his product range to reach a broader client base. He reflects on the importance of partnerships, mentorship, and learning from economic shocks such as the global financial crisis, which pushed him to further diversify his business model. Throughout the episode, Dennis emphasizes hard work, adaptability, quality, and strong relationships as the foundations of long-term entrepreneurial success.
